The Word & A Warrior is a place where you can find Passages of Scripture shared by me and how I have learned to fight everyday battles with them.

Welcome to my first blog post ever! I am excited and a little apprehensive about putting my thought and ideas out here for those who read it. I promise this will be a pretty raw, real and an unfiltered blog, as I am flying blind but passionate and hopeful of how this will turn out.

Why the title?

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your way submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.” Proverbs 3:5 & 6 NIV.

This is what I call my life verse. It is the first Scripture I memorized and the one I constantly have to cling to because sometimes I dont trust God. <Insert horrified gasp here> So this idea of beginning a blog is me trusting what I feel God has asked me to do, I guess I will find out if this was truly His idea later.

Trusting the Process

As I have journey through my "Christ-life", I have found that when I get in the way I make a mess of things but when I trust God and His plan I cant go wrong and the outcome is so much better than I could have imagined. So in this process of beginning this blog the idea is to be 1) completely transparent 2) be open to change and 3) invite and support others to share their thoughts, ideas and experiences ~ this is why it is "a warrior" not "The", because I am not the only warrior out there.

The Tough Stuff

Warriors do not fight alone.

As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another.” Proverbs 27:17 NIV

We all have a name we are called by in the heavenly, as it says in Revelations. I attended an intensive retreat a few years ago and during that time we were told God would reveal our name to us. Well, mine was Mighty Warrior and to say that I scoffed at this would be an understatement. My story is pretty long and drawn out but the short of it is this: I grew up in a Christian home, learning about Jesus, God and Holy Spirit. I had a falling out with God and waged war on Him, which was useless and now I am becoming that which I hated ~ full circle. So the more I sat on this "name", the more I began to wonder and accept who God calls me and says I am. Life was tough when I was a kid growing up because we were poor. Life was tough when I decided to fight with God because I hated Him so much. Life is tough but I have endured and have been through some pretty hard situations that some people may have given up on. I accept that I am a warrior, I have fought some pretty tough battle and I have seen and tasted the victory God promises.

Please Dont Quit

Now that you have had a little glimpse of what this journey will be like, I hope you will read and ride this out with me. This journey may be short, it may be a launching pad or it could end right now. Please know, none of this is not about me but about God and the glory of His Kingdom brought about through a warrior.

Smile through the tough stuff of life.
