Ever here these words or say to someone: "You're sooo tall" or "You're big boned" or "Look at the size of your calves!" Yes, I have had these things said to me for as long as I can remember.

I know I'm not petite, nor am I thin and I never have considered myself beautiful. As a kid my grandfather used to lovingly call me his "giant", as he only came up to about my armpit when I was full grown. I was teased for being too big for "regular kid" clothes growing up and by the age of 9, I was wearing my mom's size 8 shoes. It has been a long road to find comfort in my own skin but I have made strides.

The way God created me, physically, I see myself being built more as a line backer or maybe even a lineman and not a Princess. I recently attended a Night of Worship for women and as I looked around the room to all the beautiful and talented women I was surrounded by, I began to feel less than and irrelevant (another battle I fight daily). In my own perception I came up short because I can't sing, I am not a painter, I can't play an instrument and I am one of the biggest women in the room. Again, my size seems to make me want to hide but it's impossible when you're a 6ft, more than 200 pound Amazon - Ya, I've been called that too. A few days later I see a meme and God whispers, "you're a warrior not a delicate Princess." AH!!! I get it God. You created me to be a kick@$$ Xena Warrior Princess.

I'm meant to fight battles, I have fought many battles silently and with others as well as for others. I guess it's fitting that I am a warrior. I was created to be on the front lines, to fight for those who struggle to fight for themselves - whether in prayer or holding their hand as they cry through a situation or as a friend struggles with a prescription drug withdrawal. If God created us all to be Princesses, homemakers, teachers or warriors, the body of Christ could not function. "For the body does not consist of one member but of many. If the foot should say, “Because I am not a hand, I do not belong to the body,” that would not make it any less a part of the body. And if the ear should say, “Because I am not an eye, I do not belong to the body,” that would not make it any less a part of the body." 1 Corinthians 12:14-16 ESV.

God's purpose for me is to be part of the cavalry when someone is in need of help or protection. Not to sit around in a pretty dress and eat bonbons, but to be the warrior that someone may need. Just as the Scripture says, we cannot all be the same body part and just because we aren't what we consider to be a useful or attractive part, does not mean that we are not part of His body. What my purpose in His Kingdom is different from my other brother's and sister's in Christ. Prayerfully ask God to reveal who you are...are you an eye, a foot, an ear? It doesn't matter, embrace who He has created you to be - even Batman!
