What Do You Choose?

It's been a while since my last blog post. I was finding myself in a place of silence, resentment, and frustration with God while trying to understand His purpose in the condition of the world. Some of you may gasp and say "How could you? He's God." My answer to that is simply this, I understand MY Father God to have BIG shoulders and eternal patience with me (and all of His creation). He has walked among these broken bags of bones, felt what it is like to be one of us and yet NEVER gave in to the desires of His flesh but made the flesh His slave. "To this you were called, because Christ suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow in His steps, 'He committed no sin, and no deceit was found in His mouth.'". 1 Peter 2:21-22 NIV.
In my time of being that disobedient child, having a temper tantrum, in the middle of the toy isle, God patiently waited for me to get up and keep walking. He knows how He needs to deal with me and allows me those times of being upset with Him, gives me the space I need to process what I feel He is doing, and then come to Him, so we can continue on our journey together - Because God never leaves us, even though we may feel that way. He is like that parent in the toy isle with that child saying, "Ok, Im not giving you your way, we have other things to accomplish, but I will wait for you to be ready so we can keep going."

This is why I chose to blog because I know many believers who have these type of feelings and think it's wrong. My belief is, it isn't because God made us emotional beings, with feelings and if we are made in His image, He has emotions too. Open up your Bible and read about God's anger, kindness, jealousy, love even hate. Let's not get it twisted and believe it's ok to have these emotions and react to them - That's where we differ to God. God's emotions come out of the love He has for the pinnacle of His Creation...US.
As I wrestled back and forth with God, it came to my attention there are 2 things He is working within me, my perspective and my love of this world. Let me tell you, these are things I have not wanted to change, and yet I know that this is where He is working within me, during this time. God wants me to change my fear, worry and anxiety to joy, dependence and peace in Him rather than what goes on around me. Again, if you're reading this and not a believer (or you are a believer) in Christ you may say, "Easier said than done." My answer to you is, OH YEAH! You have no idea, BUT I have seen and been the recipient of God's work when I do have the joy, dependence and peace in Him rather than what it around me. Jesus tells us in Matthew 6:25-34 that worrying is a waste of time, God provides for those who love Him, the birds don't worry about their next meal nor do the lilies in their natural beauty don't worry about how they look.
"Joy" by For King and Country
It's all about perspective and which I choose. I can choose to be angry and bitter at the current condition of our country and world, or I can choose to see the good those are doing for others around them, selflessly. Choosing to see the wildflowers as beautiful rather than weeds, blow on a dandelion rather than mow it up, or a bird singing in my tree rather than worry about the mess it may make on my newly washed car. I can choose to be grateful of what, and who I have in my life currently. I can choose the joy of the LORD rather than the chaos and contention of the world. Is it easy, NOPE - But it's worth it, that I can tell you, and I am certain of. I just have to get out of my own way, stop fussing in the toy isle and move on to the bigger and better things God has for this child of His.
Thanks for reading my blog.
