Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be men of courage; be strong. Do everything in love. 1 Corinthians 16:13 NIV.
It is human nature to fight or flight when we are in the midst of adversity. It is also in our nature to seek self-preservation when in the middle of a crisis. But if we are to believe what Scripture says; God is with us and He is for us, bringing good out of what we consider bad, then we must take a directive such as this to heart.

Being on our guard means not to fall asleep or be distracted, keeping God's promises and Word on our hearts and minds at all times, so we may stand firm when our faith may be shaken by difficulties. To be courageous and stand guard for our family, our friends and fellow brothers/sister in Christ when they call on us to pray for them and with them. Having the strength of Christ to endure the difficulties we face and help others face. Doing it all in a place of love and forbearance just as Jesus did and does for us daily because love is the ultimate witness of Christ to the world.

So whether you are in a place of difficulty or a season of rest: keep your armor on, be ready to stand for yourself or others, being sure of God's victory in this season and loving those we interact with as Christ loves us, daily. Gou out and be the Spiritual Gangster you were meant to be!
