Give thanks in all circumstances for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.

1 Thessalonians 5:18 NIV.

Give Thanks - ALWAYS...Even in 2020.

I know it has been a difficult year for all of us, and I do mean ALL. Some of us have lost loved ones, jobs and homes. As we get closer to the end of this year, we are looking forward to 2020 being over, with the hope that all will be better in 2021.

Some may say, "how can I be thankful?" or "why should I be thankful?" The whole of this verse spoke volumes to me over this weekend because I was forced to look back at not just this year but my life and really take inventory on why I should be thankful. Being thankful doesn't mean you have an easy life or never have any troubles, stress or struggles - For that is the beauty of knowing God's goodness in life. Being thankful is remembering the goodness of God. Mindful of what He has done in your life and to be able to replay those bad days or situations and see the good that came of them. Why? Because that is where we see God was with us and that He was with us - ALWAYS.

In my prayer journal this morning I challenged myself to set a timer for 1 minute and write what I was thankful for. It was effortless to do because that minute reflects what my heart is thankful for in that instant. I read an article on how gratitude can be a health booster. Stress and anxiety actually puts stress on our physical body causing inflammation and a weaker immune system. Gratitude removes our focus on the negative and places it on the positive. I challenge you: 1 minute. STOP. Time yourself if you need, and just give thanks. Do it on your drive to work, while you wash your hands, or while you put the laundry in the wash. You'll see there is much to be thankful for...Yes, even in 2020.
